ATCEMS has been a proud provider of CPR and First Aid training to the
general public since 1985. Automatic Exertnal Defibrillator (AED)
training is now also available.
The Austin/Travis County EMS System is a Community Training Center for
the American Heart Association and provides guidance for
approximately 300 CPR and First Aid instructors.
One of the most popular classes that we provide is the AED Training
class. The AED is a small laptop computer-sized medical device that
is used to resuscitate a cardiac arrest victim. The AED is designed
to deliver an electrical shock to the heart, and is used on unconscious
patients who display no breathing or pulse.
The use of an AED has traditionally been used by healthcare
professionals but has been recently introduced to the lay public. In
most states the use of AEDs by lay rescuers has been added to the
Good Samaritan Law. The Austin/Travis County EMS System is excited to
get this life saving skill and knowledge to the public.
The Austin/Travis County System can assist an organization in the
implementation of a Public Access Defibrillation program. This
program is designed for companies who want to offer to their
employees the benefit of having an AED at their workplace. Our
training division was instrumental in implementing the in-house AED
training for the Austin Bergstorm International Airport, the first
airport in the State to have AEDs installed.
We are committed to providing quality training to everyone from new
parents who want to learn Infant CPR to CPR Instructors who need to
renew their certifications. If you're interested in learning to save a
life with CPR, contact us at
